Dead or Alive 5 is a fighting game in the Dead or Alive franchise, developed by Team Ninja and released by Tecmo Koei simultaneously for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2012.
Dead or Alive 5 is the first game in the series to see a multi-platform release since Dead or Alive 2 and the first console installment that was developed without the input of Dead or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki. It is also the series' first installment that was released for the PlayStation 3, as well as the first game in the series released for the Xbox 360 since Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 in 2006.
Dead or Alive 5 features guest characters from Sega's Virtua Fighter fighting game series and several new gameplay mechanics, as well as vastly improved graphics and more realistic visual style than its predecessors. It received generally favorable reviews, but often with reservations regarding various aspects of the game.

Gameplay

The game has three main modes: Story (the main Story Mode and bonus missions), Fighting (offline modes, including Versus, Arcade, Time Attack and Survival), Online (various competitive modes) and Extras. Training Mode has more features than the previous Dead or Alive games. Online modes include an ability to organize and host torunaments for up to 16 players, Spectator mode enabling users to chat with other players while watching fights, and Online Dojo, a training mode where one can practice with other players. Extras include Watch Mode, where players can watch replay of their matches and also take photographs from a position and angle of their choosing with a fully controllable camera.
Hayate using a Power Blow attack against Ayane in Dead or Alive 5

The fighting gameplay is similar to this of Dead or Alive 4, with several innovations. Like in the other games in the series, fights in Dead or Alive 5 are based on a rock-paper-scissors like interruption system, in which strikes (normal attacks) beat throws, throws beat holds (interception attacks), and holds beat strikes, all of such counter attacks causing extra damage. The game's characters are rendered in much more realistic visual style than in the previous titles in the series, including new details such as the fighters getting sweaty and their clothes getting dirty during the fights, costume-specific breast physics and transparent clothing.
The duels take place in interactive and now highly-destructive arenas, where the new feature called Power Blow (a triggered powerful attack that can be executed when a character's health is below 50%) enables the players to knock the opponent character away in a selected direction, possibly into the series' characteristic Danger Zones or over a cliff in the multi-level stages, which might then initiate a cinematic quick time event called Cliffhanger. With Cliffhanger, if a character can grab onto the stage at the last second before falling into a lower level, an action sequence is activated where the opponent character can make an to inflict even more damage if the attack succeeds. The game's Critical System features Critical Stuns (after having been hit with specific moves, characters get stunned and are unable to block, but can still perform holds), Critical Combos (striking a character in a Critical Stun state can prolong the amount of time they remain stunned, but the damage that can be inflicted is limited) and Critical Bursts (a specific strike that over the damage limit of a Critical Combo that leaves the target character completely defenseless for a moment).

Plot
Dead or Alive 5 is set two years after the events of Dead or Alive 4 and the destruction of the TriTower. Helena Douglas has undertaken task of rebuilding DOATEC but wants to use its technology for peaceful ends. Helena dissolved DOATEC's Biotechnology Division, stopped the Military Division's projects Alpha, Epsilon and Omega, fired all members of Victor Donovan's faction, and announced that she intends to hold the fifth Dead or Alive tournament, hosted by Zack, "to show the world the principles and philosophies upholding the new DOATEC."
The game's Story Mode is told in the form of one long sequence, similar to Dead or Alive: Dimensions's Chronicle Mode, and presented in "hyperlink cinema style" causing more character and stage interactions.

Dead or Alive 5 was officially announced in September 2011 at the Tokyo Game Show on September 14, 2011 for a 2012 release. The first trailer, released on December 7, showcased Ryu Hayabusa and Hayate doing battle on top of an under-construction skyscraper which is eventually destroyed by a stray beam swinging from a crane, revealing the more intricate environmental interaction as well as a new attack of Hayate. A teaser image was also released at the event, with producer Yosuke Hayashi stating that the image represents the sensuality that the game is now seeking to portray in a more sophisticated tone. Hayashi said that his team is committed to making the environment more involved in the fighting experience than ever before.By this time, the game was said to be only "15% complete".
In February 2012, Team Ninja hosted a series of press events in various locations across the world, showcasing the alpha demo of the game. Further screenshots have confirmed Hitomi and Ayane to be playable while Kasumi was featured in a promotional poster. A trailer unveiled at the Game Developers Conference in March 2012 revealed that the game would include Akira Yuki from the Virtua Fighter series as a playable guest character. In May 2012, Tecmo Koei attended London MCM Expo, showcasing a playable demo version of the game. Dead or Alive 5 tournament was also held on the GameSpot stage. June 28 saw the emergence of a new Dead or Alive 5 trailer confirming the return of Bass Armstrong and the addition of a brand new character to the series, Rig. The trailer features brand new cutscenes giving a glimpse of the story to come. On July 19, Tecmo Koei's official YouTube channel MyKOEITV released a trailer showcasing tag team gameplay; the trailer showed Jann Lee and a dark skinned female fighter wearing a luchadora mask and partnered with Bass, later revealed to be La Mariposa. The "Official Declaration" trailer released on August 8, 2012, features the characters Victor Donovan, Helena Douglas, Brad Wong, Gen Fu, Eliot and Alpha-152. On September 11, two weeks before the game's release, Tecmo Koei announced another brand new character to join the roster, a female vale tudo and kickboxing artist named Mila, while Gen Fu and the Virtua Fighter character Pai Chan were also revealed to make appearances. The game's launch trailer was released on September 19, 2012.

Anomaly: Warzone Earth is a real time strategy video game by 11 bit studios. The game was initially announced in late 2010, and released on April 8, 2011 for Windows and Mac OS X.

Plot

The game is set in the near future, where sections of an alien spacecraft have crash-landed in several major cities around the world including Baghdad and Tokyo.
The player assumes the role of the commander of an armor battalion (referred to as "14th Platoon" in the story) sent to investigate anomalies that have occurred in the vicinity of the wreckage and gather information on what is happening in the affected areas, as the anomalies are interfering with radar and satellite imagery - and to neutralize any threats that may exist within the anomalies' field of influence.

Gameplay

Convoy has blue health bars while tower is red
The style of the gameplay has been described as "reverse tower defense", "tower attack", and "tower offense". Players control a convoy of vehicles investigating anomalies around sections of a downed alien spacecraft, which are protected by various types of defensive towers that have to be destroyed. Players do not directly control the vehicles in the convoy, rather they set paths for the convoy to follow along city streets, while also dropping power-ups such as decoys or smoke-screens to aid the survival of the convoy. In addition, players can purchase and equip a number of different units with varying offensive and defensive attributes to make up the convoy.

In the Windows, Mac, Linux and XBLA versions, players directly control a soldier on foot (dubbed the Commander) whom they use to pick-up and drop the power-ups for the convoy. The iOS and Android versions omit the Commander in lieu of the player directly placing power using the touch-based interface. In addition, the iOS and Android versions do not feature the levels set in Tokyo.

Release

Anomaly: Warzone Earth was released on PC and Mac on April 8, 2011; and was released on iOS on August 11, 2011 as separate apps for iPhone and iPad. An Android version followed, initially as an exclusive release on the Amazon Appstore in December 2011, then as a general Android Market release on January 26, 2012. The game was released on Xbox Live

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria is the fourth expansion set for the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) World of Warcraft, following Cataclysm. It was announced on October 21, 2011, by Chris Metzen at BlizzCon 2011, and was released on September 25, 2012.

Overview

Mists of Pandaria raised the existing level cap from level 85 to 90. It introduced a new character class, the Monk, along with a new playable race, the Pandaren. The vanity pet system was overhauled and added a pet battle system. New PVE scenarios were introduced, and Challenge Modes were added for dungeons. The existing 41-point talent trees was replaced by a new system of tiered talents that are awarded every 15 levels. Blizzard had stated that there are plans for nine new dungeons, three new raids, and four new battlegrounds.

Plot and setting

The game is set after the events of Deathwing and the Cataclysm. The major setting is the titular land of Pandaria, one of the continents of the world of Azeroth. Discovery of Pandaria is made after a naval battle between the Horde and the Alliance. It had previously been hidden by magic since The Sundering, only to resurface.

Pandaria

Pandaria is a new continent located to the south of the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. Several zones have been added, including the Jade Forest, Valley of the Four Winds, Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Townlong Steppes, Kun-Lai Summit, Krasarang Wilds, and the Dread Wastes. The Jade Forest is the first zone, and the entry point for the Alliance and Horde. It features lush rainforest and stone spires, and introduces the player to the Hozu and Jinyu races. It contains the Temple of the Jade Serpent, one of the new dungeons, and introduces the Sha enemy. The Valley of the Four Winds includes Pandaren farm lands, with a coastal jungle. The Stormstout Brewery, another new dungeon, is located in the valley. There are auction houses scattered across the five zones of Pandaria.Along with these normal auction houses, a "black market" auction house is located in an area north of the Valley of the Four Winds called the Veiled Stair. Unlike the player controlled auction house, this auction house is controlled by NPCs who post items, usually of rare status or those that have been removed from the game in previous expansions. Both Horde and Alliance can use the black market auction house.

The Wandering Isle

The Wandering Isle is a roaming giant turtle named Shen-zin Su, where Pandaren player characters begin their adventure, which they leave after choosing a faction. Historically, the Pandaren explorer Lui Lang was overcome with a rare trait in the Pandaren of that time, Wanderlust. It is because of this he departed Pandaria around 10,000 years ago on the back of the turtle, Shen-zin Su. Lui Lang had returned to his homeland a few times, and each time the turtle had become progressively bigger.

Creatures and enemies

Pandaria plays host to several new races that the players will encounter. Besides the Pandaren there is the Jinyu, a race that is similar to the Murlocs and Naga, the Hozen, a monkey like race, and the Virmen, who are related to Kobolds. The Mantids are an insectoid race that are involved in some of Pandaria's raids. Players will encounter the Mogu, who were the first to inhabit Pandaria, and the Sha, who are "the manifestation of negative energy on Pandaria".

Gameplay

Blizzard has announced that players are not able to fly in Pandaria until they have reached the maximum level.

Monk class

Monks use an energy source to power basic abilities like Jab. The basic Jab attack is used to generate a resource called "Chi", which are then used for more advanced attacks. The monk class was originally announced with not being able to utilize an auto-attack like the other classes, however, the developers chose to forgo this idea and they have been given an auto-attack. The monk class has three specializations known as: Brewmaster (tanking), Windwalker (melee damage), and Mistweaver (healing). Some details of the healing specialization have included that it will heal through "proximity" based heals, by dropping statues, similar to a shaman totem, that pulse healing as they perform attacks on the enemy target. Blizzard announced that choosing the healing specialization will give the monk a mana bar like other healers while the tank and DPS spec will use an energy bar. Monks will wear leather armor. Every race except Goblin and Worgen can be a monk.

Pandaren race

The pandaren - a race of anthropomorphic giant pandas initially created by veteran Blizzard artist Samwise Didier - were introduced to the Warcraft canon in the bonus Horde campaign of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Unlike previous races in World of Warcraft, which are tied to either the Horde or Alliance in-game factions, pandaren are faction-neutral for the early levels of the game. Until level 10, the pandaren player character is faction-less; at the end of their starting experience, the player chooses to align with either the Horde or the Alliance. The pandaren speak both the Pandaren language (though the factional language barrier will still remain between Horde and Alliance pandaren) and the main languages of their faction, which are Common (Alliance) and Orcish (Horde). (In an interview with Kat Hunter, Chris Metzen jokingly said the languages had not yet been chosen but Pig Latin was a strong candidate.).The classes available to Pandaren are Hunter, Monk, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Shaman and Warrior.

New instances

In 2011 it was revealed that the new instances would include Temple of the Jade Serpent, Stormstout Brewery and Shando-Pan Monastery. It was later revealed that the 4 parts of Scarlet Monastery – Library, Graveyard, Armory and Cathedral – will be merged into two heroics in Mists of Pandaria. A heroic version of Scholomance was also announced. During the Mists of Pandaria press release, it was announced that there will be nine level 90 heroics for players as well as three raids with 14 raid bosses. All of the raids are going to have three difficulties (Heroic, Normal, and Looking for Raid).

Challenge Modes

Mists of Pandaria's Challenge Mode is a new gameplay option where a dungeon group will be challenged to finish a dungeon as quickly as possible. All players' gear will be normalized, allowing for fair ranking. Depending on how quickly the group clears the dungeon, the group will earn one of three possible medals. The higher the medal quality, the higher the prize for achieving that medal.

Pet Battle System

Vanity pets can battle in a new turn-based combat system, either against other players for fun or against vanity pets in the wild. If wild pets are defeated, they can be captured and added to the pet Journal. Players are able to seek out master pet trainers and battle their pets, and if the player is able to defeat them, they will gain access to new pet abilities. All information regarding pet levels, abilities, and battles will be tracked in a new Pet Journal.
There will be 10 possible pet classes, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Announcement and development

MMO-Champion reported the possibility of Mists of Pandaria being the new expansion title based on a trademark application by Blizzard submitted on July 28, 2011 and approved August 2, 2011 trademarking the title "Mists of Pandaria". Blizzard announced also that in this expansion Garrosh Hellscream will become increasingly unstable and the two factions will ultimately team up to take him down in The Siege of Orgrimmar.

Mists of Pandaria is the first version of World of Warcraft or its expansions to have a digital deluxe edition (DDE), which essentially provides the in-game rewards of a collector's edition at a somewhat reduced cost and without the extra materials, such as the artbook and the soundtrack. Like the collector's edition of Cataclysm, both the DDE and the standard Mists of Pandaria collector's edition provide special in-game portraits for StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, and also unlocks special icons for the player's banner in Diablo III.
